Not All Water is Safe!
There certainly is
a lot to consider these days before enjoying the simple pleasure of a
refreshing glass of water. It's no secret that many of us are
questioning the safety of our water. More of us are becoming aware
of how important pure, clean, drinking water is to our general health and
vitality.
Municipal
Tap Water
This water comes
from a local water source, like a lake, river or ocean, and is processed by your municipal
water company. It is filtered to remove suspended particles and has chemicals added to
kill bacteria.
Well
Water
Many rural homes
use a well for their general water supply. Most well water requires
processing to remove contaminants from the 6 basic classifications.
Raw well water can range from safe-to-drink to deadly poisonous and
therefore must be filtered and tested regularly.
Mineral
Water
Contains over 500
parts per million of Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) of Inorganic particles
such as iron, copper, calcium, magnesium and sulphate, to name a
few. It is usually bottled at the water source and may or may not be
filtered or processed for bacterial removal.
Spring
Water
Must have an
Inorganic mineral count of less than 500 parts per million of Total Dissolved Solids.
It is usually trucked to its bottling location and may or may not be processed to remove Organics,
Inorganics, Microbacterias,
Pesticides and Herbicides.
Distilled
Water
Produced by boiling
water and condensing the steam leaving behind the heavier contaminants.
Contaminants that boil at less or close to the same temperature as water must then be removed
from the condensed water by some other filtration method usually an activated carbon based filter.
Pure
Water
The International
Bottled Water Association defines "Pure Water" as being virtually free of detectable levels
of all 6 classifications of
water contaminants. It's pure tasting, safe and healthy for your body.
There is no argument that pure water is the safest and healthiest water to drink or cook with.
